JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake

The JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake provides a wide variety of recreational activities that allow for outdoor fun on a year-round basis. The recreation park consists of 250 acres of the most beautiful lakefront property in the area. The park provides many different lodging, camping, equipment and activity options to ensure everyone has a great adventure in the outdoors. The park is open 365 days out of the year.

Lodging & Reservations

The Park offers 6 types of lodging to fill any need, from a one room Bunkhouse with 2 sets of bunk beds up to the fully furnished 3 bedroom Cottages. Lodging facilities are as follows: Bunkhouses, Bungalows, Park Cabanas, Lofts, Cabins and Cottages. ADA and pet-friendly units are available upon request.

Reservations can be made for many facilities out at JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake. Lodging units, RV spaces and pavilions are all available for reservations. Reservations can be made 6 months in advance by active duty personnel, all other DOD cardholders may reserve 3 months in advance.

RV Park
The RV Park consists of 25 full-service sites as well as 12 additional sites with electricity only. Restrooms, laundry facilities and dump stations are available.

Camping
There are over 200 sites available to camp throughout the park. Camping area include picnic table, fire rings and BBQ grills. Public restroom facilities available.

Day-use Areas
There are many day-use areas around the park. Numerous picnic sites, pavilions and large grassy areas are provided for guest’s enjoyment. There are also miles of nature trails for those that want to take a hike.

Canyon Lake

Marina

JBSA Canyon Lake Rec Area has two marinas available for customer use. Sunnyside marina is on the south end of the park and Hancock Cove marina is on the north end of the park down the hill from the Country Store.

Sunnyside Marina
Available for guests to use as a long-term wet slip storage for their private boats. The marina has 25-30 ft. covered wet slips with electric hook-ups for your convenience. This marina has a security camera system and is gated for privacy and protection.

Hancock Cove Marina
Home to the Rec Areas rental fleet, this marina also offers short-term storage for private boats. The boat rental program runs all year, 7 days a week. Winter rental prices vary per season so ask a cashier for the running discounts and specials! Hancock Cove currently offers pontoon, ski and center console fishing boats. There is also a variety of paddle equipment and towable toys for our guests enjoyment. During the summer Hancock Cove has extended operating hours so you can take full advantage of those long Texas days with your friends and family. Another program offered during the summer is our Sunset Cruise. Guests can sign up for this program at the Country Store or call the Hancock Cove marina for more information. Beaches
There are multiple beaches available so everyone has a cool escape from the hot Texas heat. Lots of sand also makes for a relaxing area to soak up some sun.

Country Store
The Country Store carries lots of outdoor items, cold beverages, ice, food, ice cream and personal hygiene products for everyone in the park.

Admission & Rules

The JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake is open to all DOD cardholders. Cardholders may sponsor up to 10 guests and are responsible for his/her guests. Additionally, the sponsor must be present at all times their guests are on property. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Reservation Policy
• Reservations may be made 30 days in advance of the desired reservation date
• Reservations will be made in person or through email. See the MyJBSA website for reservation forms. Completed forms must be sent to jbsamarinasuper@gmail.com ­
• $25.00 deposit per boat will be applied at time reservation is made for motorized boats
• Deposit will be applied towards rental cost upon check in
• Deposit is non-refundable if reservation is cancelled with less than 24 hour notice
• Minimum rental time is 2 hours for motorized vessels
• Boat reservations will be held for one hour after designated start time
• Reservations not claimed within the first hour of the rental will be forfeited to first come first serve customers and also forfeit reservation deposit
• DOD identification card is required upon check in for boat rental
• Valid U.S. Boaters Safety Certificate is required upon check in for boat rental
• Rental and operation of motorized vessels require a boater safety card
• All fees will be charged upon check-in. Reservations are confirmed only after deposit is processed
• Reservations are not transferable from one party to another
• Reservations may be cancelled by marina personnel due to weather conditions. Notice will be given to customers as soon as possible

Boating Rules
• All boats must be operated as to cause no wake in designated areas
• All boats must be operated as not to disrupt or harm other boats.
• Renter is responsible for all damages that is caused by the boats
• All passengers under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket at all times when on the boats
• Alcohol is prohibited on all JBSA boats
• Vessels shall not be rented or operated by intoxicated persons
• Parking, loading or unloading passengers and equipment is only permitted in the slip assigned to the JBSA boat
• Use of equipment will be explained and demonstrated to customers prior to their departure
• A complete inventory of the equipment will be taken and its condition noted on the vessel checklist
• Renter is responsible for any damage to JBSA boat while in their care, custody and control
• Questions about the equipment or condition of the equipment should be expressed prior to departure
• Late fee is equal to 1 hour rental for every 15 minutes boat is late.
• Authorized drivers are only adults that have a valid DOD identification and boater safety card
